Shakespeare’s timeless stories meet the power of opera in this intimate recital. Over 400 years of Shakespeare’s influence on composers from Purcell to Verdi is explored through opera excerpts from masterpieces including Verdi’s Macbeth, Thomas’ Hamlet and Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette.
Featuring the voices of Rebecca Cassidy and Annika Hinrichs (sopranos), Cameron Bodiam-Taylor (baritone) and Brendan Murtagh (piano), this is an evening of passion, tragedy and beauty — all drawn from the pen of the world’s greatest playwright.
