Some of Our Best Friends Are Jazz Musicians

Strings meet reeds. Rules get bent. Martin Kay on saxophone and clarinet joins the Black Square Quartet for a program featuring folk, jazz and contemporary experimentation.

Martin Kay is a prominent Australian musician celebrated for his adventurous approach to classical and cross-genre saxophone studies. He has performed with major orchestras and ensembles and holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in composition from Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

The Black Square Quartet, formed in 2018 and named after Kasimir Malevich’s minimalist painting, is known for championing new and Australian works.
